Repairing Shoes 補皮鞋
Repairing Shoes 補皮鞋
In Taiwan’s agricultural era, it was common to see a man with a wooden toolbox walking through streets and alleys, offering shoe repair services. At the time, leather shoes were expensive and highly valued. A damaged pair would be carefully patched and repaired, with replacements considered only when absolutely necessary.
This sculpture captures a scene rarely seen today. In modern life, worn shoes are often thrown away and replaced. The piece preserves the memory of a time when things were repaired, not discarded, and everyday labor carried quiet dignity.
