Domestic Goose 家鵝
Domestic Goose 家鵝
In the agricultural society of Taiwan during the 1930s to 1950s, geese were a common sight in every household. Folklore held that raising geese could ward off snakes. Known for their strong territorial instincts, geese were relentless in chasing away any intruders.
This artwork vividly captures the amusing scene of a child who accidentally wanders into a goose’s territory and instantly regrets it. The goose charges forward with full energy and purpose, while the child flees in panic, using both hands to shield his most vulnerable parts. It is a hilarious, perfectly timed moment that contrasts the goose’s fierce determination with the boy’s desperate, undignified escape.
